 Rules for Moderators
« Thread Started on Mar 18, 2008, 10:16pm »

1. Moderators are allowed to alter the area over which they are official moderator as they will. The only exception is where they break the rules in doing so. They are also allowed to affect small changes on the site as a whole, including creating skins, adding avatars, and so on.
2. The moderator who is in charge of a role-playing area is in charge of carrying out any punishment that is necessary for infractions committed within that board and its sub-boards. They are also in charge of deciding its severity.
3. A moderator may hand out a temporary ban of up to a week to a player who has broken the rules, without consulting the other mods. Anything that is less severe than that is allowed at the mods discretion.
4. If a punishment is deemed to be too severe for the crime it can be removed by a majority vote of mods. Unreasonable actions can be changed by another mod before the vote (but never after), but they will have to explain themselves later. In either case the offending mod may face punishment in turn.
5. No punishment may be carried out against a mod unless it has the backing of the majority of other mods. This is to prevent retaliation.
6. Punishment of mods may include removal of some or all moderator powers, if the other mods agree it is necessary. This is only allowed in cases where having the powers is actually damaging the site, and not for posting quality.
7. No character may be deleted from this site, unless the motion has the support of every active player, except for the player being removed. The only exception to this rule is when a banned player creates another profile.
8. The rules of this site can only be altered by a majority vote of moderators, and the changes can only be carried out by the admin. The admin has the right to refuse the change.
9. The administrator (me), counts as a moderator for the purposes of voting. The rules are binding for me as well, except that punishments that involve altering settings aren’t allowed, as it is not a good idea to stuff around with the admin settings.

I figured it was about time I wrote up some rules for the moderators, now that we have some. Well what do the other players and mods think? Is it a bit imperious? If these things need altering it's best to get it out of the way now.
These rules aren’t considered to be binding until there is a general agreement from the moderators on them.

Sounds good.
i can agree to that.

Only Rule 3 confuses me. shouldn't it be if it is more severe? not less?

What I meant is that anything that is less severe than a weeks ban is allowed without consulting other mods.

It is a bit unclear.

I want to make all the changes in one fell swoop, so I'll wait to see if anyone else can see anything.
